What’s Included
- Vinyl deep-clean — all seats, bolsters, pads, sun pads, and wraps. Marine-grade vinyl cleaner that lifts sunscreen, sweat, drink stains, and ground-in dirt without damaging the vinyl.
- Vinyl conditioning — UV protectant applied after cleaning. The Kentucky Lake sun is brutal on vinyl; consistent conditioning is the difference between vinyl lasting 8 years and lasting 15.
- Carpet shampoo — deep extraction shampoo on deck and cabin carpet. Pulls out lake water, sand, drink spills, and the mildew that’s the inevitable Kentucky Lake problem.
- Upholstery cleaning — cabin upholstery, throw pillows, fabric panels (where applicable)
- Hard surface cleaning — gel coat interior, dash, hatches, storage lids, cup holders, console
- Head (toilet) — full clean and sanitation of the head, including holding tank treatment if requested
- Wood treatment — teak, mahogany, cherry — cleaning and oil treatment on yacht interiors
- Mildew remediation — spot treatment of any mildew areas before it spreads
- Mildew prevention — antifungal treatment on carpet, vinyl, and upholstery to slow the next round
- Storage compartments — emptied, wiped, vacuumed, moisture-absorber placed for storage
Mildew — The Kentucky Lake Problem
Mildew is the single biggest interior problem on Kentucky Lake boats. The combination of summer humidity, frequent water contact, and the long fall-to-spring storage period creates ideal conditions. Symptoms range from black dots on vinyl seams to musty smells in carpet to white film on the gel coat interior.
The solution is multi-stage:
- Catch it early — a mid-season interior inspection catches small mildew before it spreads
- Treat aggressively when found — appropriate mildew killer, contact time, full removal of affected material if it’s deep in upholstery foam
- Apply preventatives — antifungal treatments that inhibit regrowth
- Improve ventilation — moisture absorbers, vented covers, proper winterization, occasional off-season check-ins
Interior vs. Exterior — Which Matters More?
The exterior makes the photo. The interior makes the actual experience. Most owners book interior detail at least as often as exterior — sometimes more frequently for high-use boats. For Kentucky Lake conditions, twice a season is the minimum (spring opening + fall closing), with mid-season touch-ups on heavily-used boats.
How We Price Interior Detailing
Per-foot of boat length with adjustments for interior complexity (open runabout vs. cabin cruiser is a big difference), upholstery condition, carpet square footage, and access. Here’s how our quotes work.
